God has a purpose for every person. God has a perfect will for your life that He wants you to follow, but, He does not force you to. He leads you to do His will, but He gives you the freedom to make your own choice. It's as if God has a blueprint for your life. Although He may want to build a beautiful mansion from your life, you can still choose to build a shack. But God's intent is that you build according to His will. Make sure that Christ is the foundation of your life. Let the Holy Spirit be the Builder. He can build far better than you can.
You can choose! God has given you the ability to choose, this is called your will. The Bible refers to will as a desire, intent, or purpose to do something.
Deuteronomy 30:19-20 "This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him."
Romans 7:18 "I know that nothing good lives in me, that is in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out."
Ephesians 5:15-17 "Be very careful, then, how you live - not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is."
Daily thoughts: What did you get from today's study? Do you believe a person's will can be used for good or evil?

I believe that a person's will can be used for good, for what God wants, if that person is following God, and is in the Word, and stopping to listen to what God has to say. I think someone's life could be used for evil if they aren't following God. If they're living how they want to live.
ReplyDeleteI love Romans 7:18. Continued in Romans 7:25, it says, "Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: in my mind I really want to obey God's law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin." I love how God just doesn't leave me hanging! It's just like, remember, I gave you my one and only Son, Jesus Christ, and He is the answer to your dilemma! Later on down in chapter 8, it talks about how there is no condemnation for those of us in Jesus! NONE! Starting in verse 5 of chapter 8, it talks about how we aren't controlled by our sin if we are living in Christ, because when we accepted salvation, we have the Holy Spirit living in us, which controls us. Without God, we cannot make the wise choice, period. Closing with the Ephesians 5:15-17 was good. Just a reminder to think throughout the day. I know I can be a quick speaker and do-er, but in order to follow what God's will is, in order to live in a way that pleases Him, I need to be careful in the way I live. When the verse says, "making the most of every opportunity," I think of sharing the faith I have in my God with my school,or even in my home. (Not living it up and literally living life like one big party and doing what we want to do in this life as sometimes we interpret "making the most of every opportunity" as.) That's been heavy on my heart lately, and makes me so thankful that it's in God's will for me to be a student leader. I am so happy that God gets to use me to tell middle schoolers about Him and all He's done, and just His love and so much more! That gets me excited for the tools later in the study about sharing our faith! Good stuff! (:
Hi Girls, I am doing the prayer guide from church - Seek God for the City - and the verse today was Deuteronomy 30:19-20, the same verse in our study....first of all, that is one way I 'hear' God speak to me, when He repeatedly places things in front of me... anyway it said 'Real love answers Your voice with ongoing choices'... in that we show our love to God in the choices we make - as we grow closer and closer to God our choices will reflect our obedience and love for HIM. It also said to pray for 'those who have not yet followed Christ to be NAUSEATED by the absurdity of worldly enticements and become hungry for the life of God.' That is how sin will start to make you feel... and some of the things your friends are doing in sin will literally make you sick! I'm praying for all of us to be nauseated by the absurdity of wordly enticements and to be hungry for the life of God! AMEN! Love you guys, Melissa M.
ReplyDeleteI believe a person can be used for either good or bad.I think if you are following God and his Word You will be used for good and as our reltionship grows stronger in him we make smarter adn better choices.
