Do you ever wonder why you have thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that do not honor Christ? Did you wonder why you often try to carry out your own will instead of first seeking God’s will?
God created you as a physical and spiritual being. The physical part came from the earth. The spiritual part originated in God’s Spirit. The elements of how you think, feel and act represent your unified personality. There are aspects of your character that Christ desires to mold into His likeness.
Romans 8:28-29: “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers”
God’s purpose and will for you are that you become like Jesus. Transforming your character into Christ-likeness means that the Holy Spirit helps you increasingly become like Christ in every character trait. Jesus came from heaven to do God’s will. That was a constant part of Jesus’ obedient life and purpose. He glorified God while He was on earth. He prayed for God’s will, not His own, to be done.
Daily Thoughts: What did you get from today’s study?
Do you desire to do what Jesus did?
What statements apply to you…be honest… what are you feeling right now!
Whatever answer(s) you pick… pray about how you are feeling.
1. I want to be like Jesus and to do God’s will, but I’m afraid that it may require me to give up something.
2. I want to be like Jesus and to do God’s will, but I’m afraid that I don’t have the ability to do as He directs me.
3. Being like Jesus is impossible for me. I can never do God’s will if this is required of me.
4. Yes, I want to do God’s will, as Jesus did. Lord, please show me how.

I do desire to do what Jesus did! I remember feeling number one and thinking that as soon as I give up what I love more than God will make my life miserable. Well, I now am number four because I have finally come to the realization that nothing is more important than living for Him, and that nothing can beat the feeling knowing that you're all in for God! It's the most wonderful thing.
ReplyDeleteAmanda Yelvington:
ReplyDeleteI think I'm number four. I know that I want to live for God, and most of the time I am living for God. But I know there's still many times when I mess up and stray from God's path for me, but I guess that's all a part of learning from my mistakes. I know I'm not perfect and that He doesn't expect me to be, but it kinda seems like when I do mess up, I'm letting everyone down...especially myself. I'm just so glad God's grace and forgiveness is new everyday :)
